Association

The Butterfield National Historic Trail Association was established in Springdale, Arkansas, in April, 2023. This was in response to President Joe Biden signing the bill establishing the Butterfield Overland Mail Route as a National Historic Trail. There are only 22 National Historic Trails in the United States because of the rigorous scrutiny they must go through and because they each must have congressional approval.

The Association is currently working to establish state chapters in each of the states that the Butterfield passed through: Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. You can see our progress by clicking on the state chapter links.
